Ten Theses About Genetics, Linguistics, History and Cosmology of North Africa's E1b1b

  1. E1b1b as the “Noah” of North Africa
E1b1b represents the ancestral “Noah” lineage of North Africa, branching into two major lines:

    • The “Hamitic” branch (E-M78), rooted in the Old Maghreb and Nile Valley.

    • The “Semitic” branch (E-Z827), which splits into:

      • The Natufian branch (E-Z830) in the Levant, associated with the Agricultural Revolution.

      • The Berber branch (E-V257) in the Maghreb.

  2. Origin in the Green Sahara
E1b1b likely arose during the Green Sahara period, not East Africa as often claimed. Its overwhelming dominance in North Africa—contrasting with lower levels in the Horn of Africa—points to a Saharan cradle during the humid Holocene.

  3. Back-migration of the Maghrebi M81’s Ancestor
The Maghrebi E-M81 arose locally in the Maghreb, but its direct ancestor (E-V257), the brother of the Natufian lineage, back-migrated from the Levant into the Maghreb, replacing or absorbing much of the older Iberomaurusian population.

  4. Natufians as the True Semitic Ancestors
The Natufian-descended E-M34 are the true Semitic people of the Levant, Mesopotamia, and Arabia. They built the first great civilizations—Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, Assyria—and represent the original carriers of the Semitic languages, later adopted by other lineages such as J1.

  5. Afroasiatic and E1b1b as One World
The Afroasiatic language family is fundamentally the cultural-linguistic sphere of E1b1b. Arabic and Hebrew—the two dominant Semitic languages today—originate from the language of the earlier E-M34 population, later adopted and carried by J1 and J2 expansions.

  6. Genetic Adoption of Semitic Identity
Modern Jews and Arabs in the Mashreq both retain strong E1b1b components. Arabs have a particularly strong E-M34 presence, supporting the idea that M34 is the original Semitic lineage. J1 likely arose in the Caucasus, near the Chechen homeland of other J1 branches. Thus, many “Semitic” peoples—both Arabs and Jews—are Semitic by linguistic and cultural adoption, not genetic continuity.

  7. Abraham as E-M34
The patriarch Abraham—common to both Israelite and Ishmaelite traditions—was most likely E-M34. Those from J lineages claiming direct descent are, in effect, claiming descent from a non-existent genetic ancestor. The real Abraham was E-M34, and the Covenant was neither purely genetic, ethnic, nor religious—it was a metaphysical promise from the Cosmos Maker to Abraham, contingent on his righteousness in the world of Man.

  8. Arabization as Reversion to an Older E1b1b Identity
The Arabization process of North Africa in the Islamic era should be reinterpreted: J1-dominated Arab tribes likely adopted the older E-M34 language and culture before Islam. When Islam and Arabic spread into North Africa, much of the local population—already descended from E1b1b and linguistically tied naturally to the Afroasiatic world—was not experiencing a foreign imposition, but a return to an ancestral linguistic and cultural matrix

  9. Reframing Jewish and Arab Descent from Abraham
The Jewish population with E1b1b lineages (especially E-M34) should be considered the true genetic descendants of Abraham, while the J1 component is more likely the result of later adoption of the Hebrew identity and religion. Similarly, for Arabs, the presence of E-M34 marks the authentic Semitic ancestry, whereas the J1 dominance in modern Arabia reflects cultural-linguistic adoption rather than original lineage.

  10. Berbers and Egyptians: Reversion, Not Conversion
The adoption of Islam and the Arabic language by Berbers, Egyptians, and other North African peoples should not be seen as a break from their past. Instead, it represents a reversion to an older Afroasiatic and E1b1b cultural-linguistic identity. In metaphysical terms, Islam restored them to a worldview and a sacred language that—though reshaped—still carried the deep structures of their ancestral speech and cosmology.

Here, a summary of the E1b1b and its descendants:

E1b1b (Green Sahara)

├─ V68 → M78        (Iberomaurusian-Old Maghreb/Nile Valley)

└─ Z827

   ├─ Z830 → M123 → M34   (Natufian;Levant)

   └─ V257 → M81          (Berber; Maghreb)
